Sure, mothers and daughters always share lots of things. But it should never include unhealthy skin. So as you have a good read now, I find it necessary to share you some timeless skin care tips – proven to be effective at all ages.
As offspring, we get lots of things from our parents, and I am certain that wrinkles should not be one of them. Though genetics take a huge part, there are a number of factors that contribute with the likeliness of having wrinkles – a clear sign of aging!
These are the skin saving tips you v your mother might have told you:
1. SKIP THE SUGAR
Do you know that excessive sugar is particularly bad not only for your waistline, but also for your skin? When it attaches with the collagen and elastin that make our skin smooth and firm, it causes them to break down. This contributes to sagging skin and wrinkles.
2. BEWARE OF WHAT YOU PUT ON YOUR LIPS
Most of lip products that contain menthol, eucalyptus, and others, usually cause irritation and dry your skin. So be careful of what you put around your lips, especially if you have sensitive skin. Petroleum jelly which my granny uses most of the time is something that can actually break out your skin. So use lipsticks with sunscreen in them. That’s very important to protect your delicate skin.
3. TOOTHPASTE CAN DRY OUT PIMPLES
Low fluoride toothpaste is proven to do this amazingly. But never use whitening toothpaste because it usually contains hydrogen pro oxide, which will actually irritate the skin. Take note that gels are not being effective as toothpaste.
4. USE CLEAN HANDS TO CLEANSE YOUR FACE
A lot of people like to use wash cloths/ face towels to wash their face. But for sensitive skin, dry skin and acne prone skin, these can be quite harsh to your face and actually could cause breakouts. So it’s best to use really clean hands or you can use some disposable cleansing cloth that you can get over the counter to clear your face and toss them away so you won’t be introducing bacteria.
4. WEAR SUNCREEN
Too much exposure to sunlight will cause skin cancer and wrinkles. Sun damage might not show up while you’re young, but it’s the exposure that you get now that will cause you problems later on (see: Daily Defense products)
5. START AN ANTI – AGING REGIME
This will nourish your skin and will actually help your complexion healthy and young looking. On top of that, this will prevent the exposure of deep lines and wrinkles on your skin.
